About the Artist
Zan Jewell is a watercolour artist. She grew up in Ancaster, Ontario and later worked for many years in Toronto. She now lives in Kingston. Throughout her life, art has always been a creative outlet and an expression of her personal love of colour and line. Since retiring she has been able to devote more time to developing her personal style in watercolour, studying with various teachers, and working with other artists.
For five years Zan served as the convener of the Fine Arts group at Kingcrafts Studio in King City. She was also a member of The Society of York Region Artists. Zan is currently a member of the Creative Brushes of Kingston as well as the Visual Artists of the Gananoque Area. Her work can now be found in many private collections in Canadian cities as well as many homes internationally.
Since moving to Kingston, the beauty and history of this region have become central to her work and many have been painted on location, “en plein air”. Zan likes the spontaneous expression of painting this way and enjoyed participating in the Paint the Town weekend organized by the Kingston School of Art. If you see her at work, please come up and say hello
